Fundraising Tips from Cycle for Survival

A CPA registered in New York CIty, Timothy Maleck has served as a financial analyst at a Manhattan-based asset management firm since 2015. Outside of his professional responsibilities, Tim Maleck supports charitable events that fund cancer research, among them Relay for Life and Cycle for Survival.

To advance its mission of funding rare cancer research, Cycle for Survival operates high-energy indoor cycling events throughout the country. The organization offers fundraising support for participating teams and individuals, including tips on how to meet fundraising goals.

Cycle for Survival offers a customizable email template that encourages participants to leverage social media to reach a wide range of donors. Sharing a personal story makes donation requests more compelling, as does requesting a specific amount from supporters who can give bigger gifts. In addition, it is important to follow up on requests and send thank you notes to people who make a donation.

Cycle for Survival supporters can be confident that 100% of donations fund rare cancer research conducted at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Since its founding in 2007, Cycle for Survival has raised $180 million for rare cancer research.

Washington the Latest City to Launch Major League Rugby Team

A New York City-based Certified Public Accountant, Timothy "Tim" Maleck is experienced in providing financial analysis and preparing financial statements. Supplementing his experience, Timothy Maleck holds a master’s degree in accounting from SUNY Buffalo, where he was a member of the school's nationally ranked rugby team.

Major League Rugby (MLR) began its inaugural season in April 2018 with seven United States-based teams and has already gained momentum for expansion in the near future. A New York team will join the league for the 2019 season, while a team was recently granted to Washington, DC, for no later than the start of the 2020 season. Former US Eagles fullback Paul Sheehy and businessman Chris Dunlavey led efforts to secure the MLR expansion franchise in the nation's capital, regarded as one of the country's largest rugby markets.

The ownership group generated excitement for the new team with an exhibition match played between South Africa and Wales at Washington's RFK Stadium on June 2. The 57-year-old stadium, however, isn't certain to be the home stadium of the Washington MLR team. Along with New York, the Washington franchise will be the only MLR team east of New Orleans, as the other seven teams are based on the West Coast. As a result, MLR Commissioner Dean Howes anticipates a natural rivalry forming between New York and Washington.
